Short Summary

Garber Park is a 13-acre wildland park owned by the City of Oakland located behind the Claremont Hotel in Claremont Canyon. Garber Park is home to significant stands of big-leaf maple, California buckeyes and regenerating coast live oak woodland and forest. The Garber Park Stewards vision is to safeguard the native wildland resources of Garber Park while reducing the risk of wildfire and improving the trail system.

Driving Directions:  From Ashby/Tunnel Rd, take Alvarado Rd., then left on Slater Lane, and right on Evergreen Ln. The entrance is at the end of the street.

Driving Directions: From the intersection of Ashby/Claremont Ave.  go .4 of a mile up Claremont Ave (towards Grizzly Peak).    Look for the Garber Park sign.  

Public Transportation:  AC Transit Bus #49, exit at Claremont Ave/Ashby Ave.  Walk .4 miles up Claremont Ave (towards Grizzly Peak) to the parking turn-out  Look for the Garber Park sign.

From the Claremont Ave Entrance:
It’s a short, but steep walk up The Claremont Ave. Spur Trail to Fireplace Plaza, the Loop Trail, and the Evergreen Lane Entrance.
